The passing of Allan Eckert in October was especially sad for me. Eckert was one of my father's favorite authors. I remember going to Wilkie's Bookstore in Downtown Dayton to pick up his newest titles with my dad. Hiking Clifton Gorge, visiting Yellow Springs, was always filled with my dad reciting a part of Eckert's books.
Ohio is so rich in history yet so little has been written about its past. Eckert is by far the premier documentarian of the role Ohio played in Western expansion. I encourage you to discover this great Ohio author.
